Money Tips: Company Pension Advice
Our resident financial expert answers your money questions- includes advice on company pensions.
I am a retired employee who used to work for the Halifax. I have a pension with the company, can you tell me if this will be affected with the takeover? I would expect that the pension administrators will send you some form of Q&A about how a takeover will affect you. I am unsure which company administers the Halifax scheme but you should receive an annual statement of benefits from them with their contact details. They would be the best people to give you a definite answer on this. Rest assured, though, that company pension schemes are very well protected. Where pension schemes experience severe funding difficulties, there is always the Pension Protection Fund to fall back on, not that I am suggesting this is the case with Halifax.
