I have a fixed bond with the Bradford & Bingley which has 5 months to run. They say I cannot have access to my money - why not? It is down to the terms and conditions of the investment and the question of access (or lack of) should have been made clear at outset. I suggest that you contact Bradford & Bingley directly for a concrete answer and if you have no luck getting a straight answer over the phone, put your question in writing. I was recently speaking to a client who has a fixed bond with Halifax and she was told that she could only encash her bond without penalty if she could demonstrate that not being allowed to do so was causing her financial hardship. Perhaps Bradford & Bingley have a similar clause?
